One Minute With… Jake Henry

Introducing… Jake Henry! Jake is the Warehouse manager at CLE. You can usually find him in the warehouse, dispatching equipment and trucks, coordinating gear we receive, and ensuring our warehouse looks spotless at all times.

NameJake Henry

How long have you worked at CLE? About 9 months.

What is your role at CLE? Warehouse Manager.

How did you first learn about the company? A year ago I was on tour with my band and worked at First Fleet Concerts/Wooly’s in Des Moines. After tour was over I was looking for a full-time job in the industry and heard of CLE through people I worked live events with.

How has the company changed since you’ve been here? I haven’t been here very long, so I can’t say that I’ve noticed any changes in the company itself, but I would say I’ve become much more aware of the daily operations. I have a more detailed understanding of everything from beginning to end, which helps me to do a better job for the company.

What is your favorite part of working here? All the opportunities to learn new things. Everyone has their door open at all times so if I have a question about any department, it’s always answered. I’ve learned a variety of things from sales, technicians, and operations. The warehouse is the focal point for everything that happens here, so I get to see all aspects from the beginning to the end. Anytime someone needs something done for a show, it comes back to us.

What is something you learned in the last week? I learned how to run a Soundcraft EMP6 mixer because I had to test speakers with it.

Who inspires you? My uncle “Bullet”. When I was in 2nd grade, Bullet and my aunt Karen were in a motorcycle accident that left him a quadriplegic. He’s been an inspiration to me because despite going through a huge life-changing event, he always kept a positive attitude and never felt sorry for himself. Before his accident, he was a huge part of the athletics department at The University of Northern Iowa. I grew up next door to Bullet and my Aunt Karen so my dad, brother and I were over at his house almost every day. He never missed any of my baseball games or any of my brothers wrestling meets. He only found positivity in every situation and it taught me to be grateful for everything and inspires me to make the most out of what I have control over in life.

What’s your hometown? Cedar Falls, IA.

What was the best concert you’ve ever attended? I’ve seen Slipknot about 4 times now and everytime I see them it’s better than the last time. Probably Slipknot’s show when they played with Hatebreed in Cedar Rapids.

What has been your favorite project at CLE? Getting to reorganize the warehouse. When I first started, I didn’t know where anything was so I had to learn one shelf at a time. I paid attention to what made sense and what gear would work better in other places. One day Arren scheduled to rent a skylift and told us we had to reorganize everything in the warehouse the next week. Between the warehouse crew and a couple techs, we categorized our gear and put equipment where was the most logical. Favorite project so far, who knows what Arren will have us do next!

What’s your drink of choice? Key lime LaCroix. Or IBC Rootbeer.

What’s your go-to karaoke song? “This Is How We Do It” – Montel Jordan.

What hobbies and interests do you have outside of work? I like playing guitar and drums. I try to play at least 20-30 minutes a day and learn a new song on guitar every week. I really enjoy cooking, especially vegan-izing Mexican cuisine. I’m a big pro wrestling fan (favorite wrestler is probably CM Punk). I play softball every Monday night and play disc golf a lot in the summer. Besides all that, I like just spending time with my girlfriend Jessica and our cat, Umbreon.
