One Minute With…Cassie Chance

Meet Cassie, our Bookkeeper! On any given day, you can find her organizing CLE’s accounts, reconciling the finances, keeping track of employee information, and handling our invoices.

Name? Cassie Chance

How long have you worked at CLE? 4 years.

What is your role at CLE? Bookkeeper.

How did you first learn about the company? I used to work at Principal until I had my daughter Aspyn, and then I was a stay at home mom for a while. When I was ready to get back to work, I knew I didn’t want to work for a large corporate organization again, so I used a temp agency to find a good fit. I was a temp at CLE for a few minutes before Arren hired me to be full time!

How has the company changed since you’ve been here? CLE has always been CLE in terms of what our values are and how we treat our clients and each other, but my role has changed quite a bit! I was hired to be a receptionist but over time my role has evolved into taking on more tasks, jobs, and responsibilities. I get to see everything that goes on first hand and I love getting to be so involved!

What is your favorite part of working here? Oh gosh, there are so many! The bond I have with my co-workers. Having flexibility for my family. And getting checks because it means that all of the production and hard work for an event has been fulfilled and the client is happy! It’s really rewarding getting the first deposit for an event and then the final one that shows everything is wrapped up.

What is something you learned in the last week?: What “depreciation” means in the bookkeeping world.

Who inspires you?: Military veterans.

What’s your hometown?: Carlisle, IA.

What was the best concert you’ve ever attended? So far, it’s been George Straight and Reba but I’m going to see Luke Bryan in September… so that might change!

What is your favorite family tradition? My family and I make Grand Marnier cookies shaped like wreaths around Christmas time. I love it! We all sit together and decorate the cookies with cut up cherries, frosting, and whatever other toppings we want to add.

What has been your favorite project at CLE? Tom Stimson implemented a new cash flow chart that simplified our company expense process. I update it once a week and it gives me a solid number in the bank account, so it allows me to see if Arren can spend money or not. 🙂

What’s your drink of choice? Irish Whiskey. Jameson!

What’s your go-to happy hour drink? Vodka cranberry.

What’s your go-to karaoke song? “No Scrubs”- TLC

What hobbies and interests do you have outside of work? Lately I’ve really been enjoying cooking new foods. Last week I made chicken teriyaki pineapple bowls… you actually carve the pineapple into a bowl- that was interesting! I’m passionate about health and fitness. In the winter, I love skiing. And of course, I enjoy all the mom-life hobbies!
